About
Your Midwife

"I love being a mother.
I love the first kicks in-utero, the anxious anticipation that
comes before delivery, the experience of nursing the most
beautiful baby ever seen, and the feelings of euphoria as you
gaze into your newborns eyes. There is NOTHING more
powerful, life-changing, more important than having a baby. To
have the privilege of helping women become mothers, well, it is
truly amazing. I can think of nothing more rewarding than
standing by a woman and supporting her family as they go through
this remarkable stage in life.
Having personally
used a midwife for my last 3 homebirth/waterbirths, I understand
the needs of a woman in childbirth. I understand what it
is like to wonder whether or not you have what it takes. I
have questioned what is needed to prepare my other children for
the arrival of a new sibling. I have struggled to educate
family members on the safety and superiority of homebirth.
I have also experienced the extreme satisfaction when a husband
and wife team up to deliver their child.
This is the way it used to be, the way it should be today.
I am always available to answer your questions regarding
pregnancy and childbirth. Should you ever need guidance in
this special time, please do not hesitate to call or email.
I love what I do. "

This
is my grandmother. She is 84 years
young. She is the mother of 5
children, grandmother of 13, and
great-grand mother of almost 35! I
always share her story when talking
about my own birth experience. In
2003, my mother urged her into the
bathroom where I was laboring. She
was nervous and afraid that she would
witness some strange sort of bloodshed,
but was surprised to see me in the bath
tub holding onto my husband. As
the baby was born, I lifted him to my
chest and within moments he was nursing.
The lights were kept dim, the room was
quiet, the baby was at peace. He
never cried! My grandmother was in
awe. She is now a true advocate of
homebirth and believe me this is a
triumph. She was fully medicated
during her own deliveries and remembers
NOTHING! She believed that there
would be blood and screaming, and all
other sorts of terror. She was
astonished at his ability to nurse so
quickly after birth. She loved the
fact that no one took him from me.
She was proud that I could reach down to
deliver my own baby. There were 13
people in the room at that night.
Everyone learned a lot about the
realities of childbirth. It's much
better than in the movies!!
